The Animated Series' Creator Has Seen Your Second Season Bingo Cards — With Some Good News
The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season presents a large cast of characters living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans create a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
